On January 7th, 2005 Equinox was asked,

What about responsibilities to other people even when you know what you should do personally?

EQ:  We don’t know what thee mean by this exactly.  Responsibility…?

Other people depend on you if, for instance you’re a parent or a wife.  What if you educated yourself and you find you’re needed somewhere else or in other areas?

EQ:  And are thee saying that thee would have difficulty meeting thy responsibilities over here by finding additional responsibilities?

No, the responsibilities you have are not needed anymore, but you still feel obligated.

EQ:  We are unsure what thee mean “still”.

Staying in a situation because it’s comfortable and because you’ve committed to it instead of moving forward.

EQ:  Then this is not taking responsibility.  This is abdicating responsibility to fear.

    Explain abdicating, please.

EQ:  This is choosing to live in fear instead of directing thyself forward.  When one chooses to stay in a situation that is not growth filled, but comfortable, then thee are choosing to not take responsibility.  Is this not so?

Then the person dies, basically, until they move forward, right?

EQ:  Not necessarily, but what happens is what we call losing thy soul.  And we believe that this is not a way that we would choose to live.  If thee choose to do this, wondrous.  Thee are learning something.  Usually the learning is painful. Dost thou understand?

Does taking responsibility for your own actions include helping other people?

EQ:  Absolutely, but, understand, helping other people does not mean creating an agenda for them and expecting them to follow it.  Helping other people might be letting them be miserable.  Dost thou understand?

So, how do we know when we’re helping and when we’re setting agendas?  Just trusting ourselves, I suppose?

EQ:  Look at thy expectation when thee do something.  If thee can give thy neighbor $100 and never ever ever look to see what he does with it, never ask, never think about it again, then thee are helping without an agenda.  For if he chooses to go spend this on a bottle of wine, this is the way he chooses to use it.  And if thee have no agenda, this is perfect.

And if we choose not to help someone like that, that’s not shirking our responsibility, is it?

EQ:  How do thee feel?  If thee see someone - let us say thee have a sister who is a drug addicted person and thee choose to no longer be around her.  How do thee feel in thy heart?  Do thee feel guilty?  If the answer is yes, thee and not stop for thee are developing karma.  If the answer is no, it is time for her to learn her lesson on her own and thee love her enough to set her free, then the answer is yes.

But does karma always involve guilt?

    EQ:  Pretty much, yes.

    Really?

EQ:  Considering that it doesn’t exist.

Yes, that’s what you said, it doesn’t exist so I got over that.  Now your saying…

EQ:  No what we are saying is guilt creates the concept of karma most of the time.

But if it’s only a concept, then how can it be?

EQ:  Because when thee feel guilty, thee feel like thee must pay back somehow.  Is this not so?  What is karma?  It is a wheel of paying back.

So you create it with your perception of that concept.

As soon as you expect something, you’re creating it.

EQ:  And this could be good too.  Realize, karma is not bad.  There are beings on Terra that believe that if they do good, it comes back.

So cause and effect is karma.

EQ:  Not exactly.  Cause and effect is not karma.  We can guarantee thee that if thee stick a fork in a light socket, thee will be shocked.  This is cause and effect.  It has nothing to do with karma.  This is physics.  It is different.  But listen again.  We have stated this before.  There is planetary karma.  If enough entities upon the planet believe that certain actions create karma, or create reactions, until the entirety or the majority – it doesn’t even have to be the majority – till the hundredth monkey occurs, thee will live under that.

Until that thought process has been changed.

EQ:  Yes.  And all it takes is the hundredth monkey.
